Sneaker's Bar & Grill, 211 E Main St, Lowell ~ 10/14/21
Enter from the front or make use of the huge parking lot in back of the restaurant and use the rear entrance.
Either way, walk into the bowling alley shaped building and take one of the many step-up-into wooden booths.
Other than the bar, the only other seating available is at the few tables up front.
We were surprised how busy, and noisy, it was early on a Thursday night and found out from our server, Jessica, that it was "Girl's Night Out" in Lowell. Just wow!
This is a sampling of what we endured from the table across from us 😑
In spite of the chaos and busyness, our server, Jessica, was awesome and never lost her cool, despite how many women came walking through to get a card marked off.
Specials were on the board, and behind that was a beer list that couldn't be seen very well from our perspective, especially when someone opened the door behind the bar.
When we got that sorted out we ordered a Widowmaker (stout), Bell's Official (hazy IPA), Pinot Grigio, and a Vodka on the rocks.
One of the specials was a Tater Tot Casserole and we ordered that an an appetizer. House made, it was delicious, with onion, corn, green beans, and ground beef.
This is the menu, with a few manual adjustments made by the management 😊
Two of us chose entrees from the specials, the Cabbage Rolls and the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. The Rolls were good but the sauce was more Italian than Polish.
The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich wasn't really hot, just a little spicy, like the Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich.
The Catch was fine as was the Low Series (black bean burger).
We don't know where the bowling burger names come from but with the building shape, they fit. The restaurant is family-owned and has been in business since 1987. It has a wonderful, friendly atmosphere and all of the dark wood adds to the warm ambience. The three TVs were playing but with no sound so on a normal night, the sound volume would be just fine.
Sneakers hanging from the ceiling 😊
Here are two old photos of the space, one from 1926 and the other from the 1960s.
We'd like to know the source of the name "Sneaker's" but we do know there is not a Mr. or Mrs. Sneakers so the only picayune criticism we have is that the apostrophe in the sign should not be there. We won't hold it against them 😉
